Paddy’s Whiskers’ ceilidhs and barn dances bring a contemporary feel to the great tradition of social dancing for parties and celebrations.
The evening usually starts with a tune or two to set the scene, then the caller will encourage people to take the to floor. The dances are varied, and appropriate for all ages and abilities…with plenty of explanation beforehand. Its all done with good humour and nothing is too serious!
Our dances are ideal for weddings and other parties – by the end of the evening everybody has had the chance to dance with everybody else.
We usually alternate a couple of dances with a song or other tune for listening so that you get the chance to have a drink and catch your breath. Ceilidhs often last between two and a half to three hours, with a short break somewhere in the middle, but all timings are flexible to suit you.
For weddings we play bespoke first dances, including a unique “Whiskers Wedding Dance” that involves all the guests making an arch for the bride and groom to dance under. Or you can kick off with any romantic recorded track of you choice, played for you through our PA.
Andrew from the band is also a DJ, with a wide range of music to suit all tastes…so if appropriate the Whiskers can end the party with a great disco to keep all your guests dancing late into the night. He is happy to take requests or playlists to be sure that you hear the music you like.
For smaller ceilidhs or barn dances we can play as a duo “Re-Jig” . We will travel to most of Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and the South West.
We bring with us a high quality and sweet sounding PA plus excellent lighting for both the band and the dance floor – so you don’t have to hold your party in a brightly lit hall. We can also provide appropriate background music for while your guests arrive and any breaks.
