From our Wedding Barn Dance at The Corn Barn, Cullompton, Devon back in December…
“You played at John and I’s wedding on 6th December. Sorry it’s taken us a while to get in touch -life’s been totally hectic. Just wanted to say a huge thank you. You and the band were unbelievable – we absolutely loved you as did everyone else. Apologies for the rowdy rabble – they had a great time and sooo many people have told me how perfect you guys were and how much they loved you. Great muscians, great with the crowd and really good fun. You set exactly the right tone to finish a brilliant day. Ive never ever seen so many people want to dance at a wedding and although it was chaos it was brilliant!!!!
Best band ever! Thanks so much you were honestly the perfect end to our day we can’t thank you enough.
Are you guys gigging at all? We’d love to come and see you again
Just some of the lovely feedback after our New Year’s Eve gig at The Boathouse, Paignton:

Our next public shows….on February 8th from 2pm at The Boathouse, Preston Sands, Paignton. Then we are playing a special St.Patrick’s Day party at The Snooty Fox, St. Marychurch on 14th March (yes we know Paddy’s Day is the 17th but that’s a Tuesday!). We are also playing a fundraiser for Berry Pomeroy School PTA – a rare public barn dance – on February 28th. Ticket details to follow.
So Saturday night Paddy’s Whiskers were back playing a wedding barn dance at The Two Bridges, Dartmoor, Devon for Tom and Rebecca. The lovely venue was bedecked with holly and Christmas decorations, making an already special day even more magical…..
And it was a beautiful, gentle night, full of the joy of love and the joy of dancing….thank you everybody!
Paddy’s Whiskers have a rare public ceilidh coming up on the 28th February 2015 in aid of Berry Pomeroy School PTA…..get in touch if you would like tickets.
Paddy’s Whiskers kicked off 2014 with a barn storming wedding ceilidh up at The Two Bridges Hotel on Dartmoor, Devon. Tonight we are back there again, playing for Rebecca and Thomas – the full package…big band barn dance and then a disco with DJ Re-Jig….closing out a brilliant 2014…after this there is just the big Paddy’s Whiskers’ Hootenanny on New Year’s Eve at The Boathouse to go…(sorry..it’s sold out)…and that is going to be a serious PARTY!!

Paddy’s Whiskers played a wedding barn dance at Bickley Mill, a beautiful venue in the countryside outside Newton Abbot last Saturday – to celebrate the marriage of Rebecca and Matt.
We arrived a bit early so we could get all the PA gear into the venue before guests arrived. Once we’d set up and sound checked (which takes us an hour or so) – we got to enjoy food from the lovely barbecue – sitting outside on an unseasonably warm October evening.
At 8pm, Matt and Rebecca cut their wedding cake….then we went straight into their first dance (This Year’s Love – by David Gray), which they’d chosen before hand so we could play it through the Whiskers sound system. Beautiful. Here’s a picture:
Wedding First Dance
And then we kicked off the barn dance….with Paddy’s Whiskers’ unique ceilidh dance (invented by our caller Gil Jefferies)…where the guests all take the floor, and during the dance, make an arch for the bride and groom to dance under. Lovely.
We had a packed dance floor all night – what a brilliant crowd – so up for it. A great party.
The ceilidh ran until 11pm and then for the last hour, Andrew from the Whiskers DJ’d for a disco playing tracks chosen before hand by the bride and groom.
A ceilidh or barn dance makes brilliant wedding party entertainment. Paddy’s Whiskers provide a unique blend of music and energy – banjos, bagpipes, mandolin, harmonica, fiddle – and our music, although traditional, is played with in an upbeat contemporary style that appeals to all the generations, from the oldsters who remember “country dancing” at school, to the hipsters into Mumford and Sons and Ray De La Montagne. We bring great lighting (look at the pictures!) and a high quality PA system to make sure the sound is excellent.
